News of another tomato event has reached us here at Tomato Casual: the Kendall-Jackson Heirloom Tomato Festival in Fulton, California benefiting the School Garden Network of Sonoma County.
At the festival you can check out over 170 varieties of heirloom tomatoes picked from the Culinary Gardens at Kendall-Jackson Vineyard Estates.
Other features of the festival include:
– Food of gourmet food purveyors
– Bruschetta Boulevard
– Food & Wine magazine Best New Chef’s Challenge
– Wine education seminars
– Tomato growing contest
– Tomato-inspired art show
– Garden tours
– Live entertainment
The afternoon festival is held in the walnut grove behind the Château at the Kendall-Jackson Wine Center; there is also plenty of Kendall-Jackson wine flowing throughout the day.
The 12th annual Tomato Festival will be held on September 6, which may seem a long way off, but since it sells out every year you might want to think about getting your tickets early. You’ll also save $10 on the purchase price if you buy before July 1.
If you can’t make the festival, you can always taste heirlooms at the Wine Center Gardens when in season.
